Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, known as Saudi Arabia’s “Sleeping Prince,” died at the age of 36 on Saturday, after nearly 20 Years in a Coma following a traumatic brain injury

In a post on X, his father, Prince Khaled bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, confirmed the news of his son’s passing, stating that funeral gatherings will be held over the three coming days in Riyadh.

He added that Salat al-Janazah -Funeral Prayer- for the deceased will take place tomorrow.

Prince Al-Waleed suffered a cerebral hemorrhage in 2005 following a car accident while studying at a military college in London. He stayed in a coma at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh under continuous medical supervision, with his father opposing the withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment.

Despite occasional minimal neurological responses, his condition stayed critical until his death.

The prince’s story touched many around the world, becoming a symbol of hope and resilience as his family stayed by his side throughout his long medical ordeal.
