Former SIS Chief Nilantha Jayawardena Dismissed from Police Service

The National Police Commission has decided to remove Senior DIG Nilantha Jayawardena, former head of the State Intelligence Service (SIS), from the Sri Lanka Police.
The decision follows a disciplinary inquiry into his conduct prior to the 2019 Easter Sunday bombings. Jayawardena faced severe criticism over intelligence failures leading up to the attacks, which killed over 250 people.
