Sri Lanka’s first-ever wax museum will be officially opened today (17) by President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka at the historic Ehelepola Walawwa on Raja Veediya, Kandy.

The walawwa, once the residence of Ehelepola Adikaram whose family was executed by the last Kandyan King Sri Vikrama Rajasinhahas been transformed into a unique museum featuring life-sized wax figures, including those of Ehelepola’s family and the king himself.

The initiative was spearheaded by Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela, who envisioned preserving the building’s legacy through wax artistry. The museum, developed by expert sculptors, will be open to the public following the inaugural ceremony.
