Eric Meyer, who has been proposed as the next U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka, is a senior career officer in the Foreign Service and currently serves as a Senior Bureau Official in the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs.

His responsibilities include overseeing the bureau’s operations across South and Central Asia, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Kazakhstan, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan, as well as coordinating policy priorities within the administration.

He is a recipient of several high-level performance and merit awards from the U.S. Department of State and holds a degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
