According to initial reports, two traffic police officers attempted to stop a speeding motorcycle near a liquor shop in the area. The rider, identified as 58-year-old Ramasamy Anthony Pillai, failed to comply and fled. During the ensuing chase, the motorcycle overturned, fatally injuring the rider.

Local residents have accused the police of misconduct, claiming the incident was not accidental but amounted to murder. They are demanding the immediate arrest of the officers involved, leading to growing unrest in the community.
