At least 23 people have been killed in an airstrike on a Buddhist monastery in Myanmar, members of the country's resistance movement said today.
The attack took place in the village of Lin Ta Lu in the central part of the country, and about 30 people were injured, while 10 are in serious condition.
More than 150 people from nearby villages have taken refuge in the monastery, which was bombed by a jet plane, in recent weeks to escape ground attacks in the region.
Myanmar's military has previously said it is only attacking legitimate war targets and accused resistance forces of terrorism.
The country has been in the throes of a civil war since February 2021, when the military took power, sparking peaceful demonstrations that were violently suppressed.
The army's opponents then began to arm themselves, and the army countered them with airstrikes from which they could not defend themselves.
