UK Introduces Duty-Free Imports for Sri Lankan Goods

 Under this initiative, a wide range of goods from Sri Lanka, Nigeria, and the Philippines can now be imported into the UK without customs duties. This policy is designed to make UK businesses and consumers more competitive by providing access to products at lower prices. 

The department emphasized that this update is part of a broader effort to modernize trade arrangements with developing nations, ensuring that both UK importers and exporters benefit from streamlined processes

 The new system, which improves upon previous import policies, is expected to particularly benefit Sri Lanka’s apparel, food, and electronics sectors by granting duty-free access to the UK market.

 By fostering easier trade, the package aims to strengthen economic ties between the UK and developing countries, support local industries, and provide consumers with a wider variety of affordable goods. This move is anticipated to drive growth and create new opportunities for businesses on both sides.
