Sri Lanka put on a disciplined bowling display to restrict Bangladesh to 154/5 in the first T20I of the three-match series at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Kandy.
Despite a quickfire 38 off 22 balls from opener Parvez Hossain, Bangladesh lost momentum after a strong start, managing only 100 runs in the final 14 overs. Mohammad Naim (32 off 29) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (29 off 23) added some stability, while Shamim Hossain's late cameo of 14 off 5 lifted the total slightly.
Maheesh Theekshana led Sri Lanka's attack with two wickets, supported by Nuwan Thushara, Dasun Shanaka, and Jeffrey Vandersay, who claimed one wicket each.
With Pallekele historically favoring teams chasing, Sri Lanka now have a strong chance to draw first blood in the series.
