Doctor Maheshi’s daughter Hemali remanded

Hemali Anithra Wijerathna, the daughter of Dr. Maheshi, has been ordered to be remanded until July 9 by the court, following her arrest on charges of issuing death threats to senior officials of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
According to court proceedings, Wijerathna allegedly threatened the Assistant Director and an investigating officer of the Bribery Commission shortly after the conclusion of a high-profile case involving her mother, Dr. Maheshi.
The threats are reported to have been made in connection with the outcome of the case, raising serious concerns about the safety and independence of public officials involved in anti-corruption investigations.
The magistrate, citing the gravity of the allegations and the need to protect officials from intimidation, ordered Hemali Anithra Wijerathna to be held in remand custody until July 9, pending further inquiry.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing. Authorities have emphasized that any attempt to interfere with or threaten officials engaged in legal or investigatory duties will be met with the full force of the law.
