Former Top Civil Servant Bradman Weerakoon Passes Away at 94

Renowned former senior civil servant Bradman Weerakoon has passed away at the age of 94, family sources confirmed.

Mr. Weerakoon, who joined the Ceylon Civil Service in 1954, served as Secretary to seven Prime Ministers and three Presidents, spanning nearly five decades of public service.

An alumnus of S. Thomas’ College, Gurutalawa, he held a BA in Economics and Sociology from the University of Ceylon and an MA in Sociology from the University of Michigan under a Fulbright scholarship.

Widely respected for his dedication and integrity, Weerakoon was a key advisor to national leaders until his retirement in 2002.
