A Cabinet-appointed committee chaired by retired Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyyakontha has submitted ten key recommendations regarding student admissions to the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) Medical Faculty.

Among the proposals is a cap on admissions, limiting each intake to a single batch of 150 students per year. Of this total, up to 100 local civilian students may be enrolled on a fee-paying basis.

The committee, which includes secretaries from the Ministries of Education and Health, aims to ensure a transparent, efficient, and high-quality admission process for medical education at KDU.
