Notorious Drug Lord Nadun Chinthaka Hospitalized with Chikungunya

Underworld gang leader and international drug trafficker Nadun Chinthaka has been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital after reportedly contracting the Chikungunya virus. Authorities confirmed that he is currently receiving medical treatment under the strict protection of the Police Special Task Force (STF) and Sri Lanka Police.
Chinthaka, who is currently held on remand custody, is facing a string of serious criminal charges including murder, robbery, assault, international drug trafficking, and coordinating underworld operations across Sri Lanka.
The underworld figure was extradited to Sri Lanka on March 15, 2023, after being arrested in Madagascar with the assistance of Interpol. Since his return, law enforcement officials have been conducting ongoing investigations into his alleged criminal network and overseas drug links.
Hospital sources confirmed that despite his condition, Chinthaka remains in police custody while receiving treatment. Security has been tightened around the hospital premises amid concerns of possible escape attempts or external threats.
