Online Traffic Fine Payment System to be Introduced Soon

The initiative falls under a newly launched pilot project by the government, aiming to modernize and streamline traffic fine payments, making the process more convenient and efficient for the public.
Minister Rathnayake made this announcement while addressing the media during a public awareness program held near the Kottawa expressway entrance. The event was focused on promoting the proper use of seat belts among vehicle users on expressways.
He stated that the new digital system will significantly reduce the time and hassle currently involved in settling traffic fines and will help promote transparency and accountability within traffic law enforcement.
The pilot phase of the project is expected to be implemented in selected areas first, with full-scale national implementation to follow based on its success.
The Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to integrating technology into public services, ensuring improved road safety and better service delivery to citizens.
