The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has taken control of the Matugama Pradeshiya Sabha following its success in the 2025 Local Government Elections.
At the council's inaugural session held today, SJB candidate Kasun Munasinghe was elected Chairman after securing a majority vote. The SJB’s dominance in the Sabha comes after winning the most seats in the recent polls, solidifying its political strength in the area.
