Dr. Sanjeewa Thennakoon Elected as New GMOA President

Dr. Thennakoon secured the presidency after a contest against former GMOA President Dr. Darshana Sirisena. The election saw significant engagement from GMOA members, marking a pivotal moment in the association’s leadership.

In another key outcome, Dr. Prabath Sugathadasa was elected as the new Secretary of the GMOA, defeating the incumbent, Dr. Haritha Aluthge.

Alongside the top leadership changes, 16 officials were elected to the GMOA’s Executive Council, and 40 members were chosen to serve on the Central Council.

The newly elected leadership is expected to shape the direction of the GMOA in addressing ongoing healthcare challenges and representing the interests of government medical professionals across Sri Lanka.
