Sri Lanka thrashed Bangladesh by an innings and 78 runs in the second Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) grounds, sealing the two-match series 1-0 in dominant fashion.

Resuming on Day 4, Bangladesh's batting crumbled once again as they were dismissed for just 133 runs in 44.2 overs. None of the visiting batters managed to cross 30, with veteran Mushfiqur Rahim top-scoring with a modest 26.

Sri Lankan left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya starred with the ball, claiming 5 for 56 in the second innings after going wicketless in the first. Skipper Dhananjaya de Silva and Tharindu Ratnayake supported well with two wickets each.

The emphatic victory not only handed Sri Lanka the series win but also earned them crucial points in the ICC World Test Championship standings.
