Keheliya Indicted Over Substandard Immunoglobulin Vials

 The indictment comprises 13 charges, including criminal misappropriation of public funds, abuse of power, and conspiracy to commit fraud. The charges stem from a high-profile investigation into the alleged procurement and distribution of immunoglobulin vials that failed to meet required medical standards.

Rambukwella, who previously served as the Minister of Health, is accused of authorizing and facilitating the importation of these vials in violation of standard procurement protocols and without proper quality assurance procedures. The case has drawn significant public attention due to its implications on public health and safety.

Among the 11 others indicted are former top officials from the Health Ministry, senior figures from the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA), and executives of private pharmaceutical suppliers allegedly involved in the procurement process.

The Special Trial-at-Bar was appointed to hear the case due to its grave nature and public interest. Court proceedings are expected to begin in the coming weeks.
