Railway operations across the country may face disruptions today as railway technicians and assistant railway technicians have launched a 24-hour symbolic strike, citing unresolved grievances related to overtime payments.

The strike, which began at 7 a.m. this morning, was organized by the Public Railway Employees' Union. The union claims that despite multiple attempts to raise their concerns with the Railway Control Authority, no effective action has been taken to address the issue.

"This symbolic trade union action is a result of continued neglect by the authorities," a union spokesperson said. "Our members have worked overtime under challenging conditions, but their rightful compensation continues to be ignored."

The union emphasized that today's strike is a warning and urged the authorities to engage in constructive dialogue to resolve the matter before more extensive industrial action is considered.
