
Broadcasting Symposium Set to Take Place Tomorrow in Colombo

The announcement was made by Additional Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. N.A.K.L. Wijayanayake, during a media briefing held yesterday (June 23) at the Department of Government Information.
The symposium aims to address key issues and trends in the electronic broadcasting sector, including the challenges posed by the rapid evolution of new media, and the need to adapt national media policies accordingly. Discussions will focus on the future of the broadcasting industry over the next five years, resolving current issues, and matters related to broadcasting rights.
Mr. Wijayanayake emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to positioning Sri Lanka as a regional hub for electronic broadcasting, highlighting the strategic importance of the symposium in shaping that vision.
The event will be conducted through a series of focused sessions, and is expected to draw participation from international observers, indicating growing global interest in Sri Lanka’s media landscape.
Prominent figures scheduled to attend include Director General of Government Information H.S.K.J. Bandara, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Association of Electronic Broadcasters Asanga Jayasuriya, Secretary Laksiri Withanage, and media analyst and advisor Nalaka Gunawardene, among others.
The symposium promises to be a significant step forward for the country’s broadcasting sector, fostering dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders at both national and international levels.
