The Ministry of Power has announced a revision in the tariff rates for newly contracted solar power systems, following a Cabinet decision. The updated rates were formally notified through a letter dated June 20, 2025, and have been made effective from June 16, 2025.

Systems up to 5 kilowatts (kW) will receive a rate of Rs. 20.90 per kilowatt-hour (kWh),

Systems between 5 kW and 20 kW will receive Rs. 19.61 per kWh,

Systems between 20 kW and 100 kW will be paid Rs. 17.46 per kWh.

These revised tariffs will apply to all applicants who pay system release charges on or after June 16, 2025. Additionally, any extension requests submitted on or after the same date will also fall under the new rate regime.

The move is part of the government’s broader efforts to standardize and optimize energy tariffs in line with current economic and energy sector developments.

Stakeholders in the solar energy industry and potential applicants are advised to take note of the changes to ensure compliance and proper financial planning.
