The Provincial and National Awards Ceremony of the National Science Olympiad Competition, organized annually by the Ministry of Education, was held yesterday (20th) at the Ministry of Education under the patronage of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr. Vijitha Herath, and Deputy Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Madura Senewiratne

The National Olympiad competition is conducted across several categories, focusing on the subjects of Science, Mathematics, Information Technology, and Statistics.

This competition is organized with the objectives of identifying and encouraging students with skills in these subjects, enhancing subject-related knowledge, and selecting the national team to represent Sri Lanka at the International Science Olympiad.

The event, certificates of merit and medals were awarded to 101 students who excelled in the provincial and all-island competitions held as part of the 2024 Science Olympiad.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Madura Senewiratne, urged the students not to stop here but to plan how to conquer the world.

The event was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism Vijitha Herath, Deputy Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Madura Senewiratne, Secretary to the Ministry of Education Mr. Nalaka Kaluwawa, senior officials of the Ministry of Education, students who received provincial and national awards, students who represented Sri Lanka at international Science Olympiad competitions, their parents, and a large gathering of attendees.
