The Fort Magistrate’s Court today granted bail to former National Lotteries Board (NLB) Director Thusitha Halloluwa in connection with a case involving the alleged misuse of state property.

During the hearing, the court also imposed a travel ban on Halloluwa, preventing him from leaving the country until further notice.

The case stems from allegations that Halloluwa misappropriated state resources during his tenure at the NLB, though specific details regarding the nature and extent of the misuse have not been publicly disclosed.

Court proceedings revealed that investigators are continuing to gather evidence, and the Attorney General’s Department has been briefed on the developments. The travel restriction was requested by the prosecution, citing concerns over potential interference with the ongoing investigation.

Halloluwa was released on bail under strict conditions, including a financial bond and a requirement to report to police on a regular basis.
