Vraie Cally Balthazaar Sworn In as 26th Mayor of Colombo

Vraie Cally Balthazaar of the National People’s Power (NPP) has officially taken oaths as the 26th Mayor of the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) today.
Balthazaar was elected Mayor following a secret ballot held on Monday (June 16), securing 61 votes. Her closest contender, Riza Zarook of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), received 54 votes.
She now becomes the latest leader to helm Sri Lanka's largest city, representing the NPP in a key local governance role.
