The 55th edition of the Paris Airshow the world’s oldest and most prestigious aerospace exhibition officially opened today at Le Bourget Airport, France. Running through June 22, the event is expected to draw tens of thousands of aerospace professionals, defense leaders, and aviation enthusiasts from around the globe.

This year’s show takes place under a somber cloud following the tragic crash of Air India Flight 171 last week, involving a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. In the aftermath, Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg has canceled his planned appearance, and GE Aerospace postponed its highly anticipated investor day.

Despite the tragedy, the Paris Airshow continues to highlight the strength and resilience of the aerospace industry, with over 2,400 exhibitors from nearly 50 countries and approximately 150 aircraft on static and flying display.

Key Themes and Innovations

Sustainability is a major focus in 2025, with prominent displays of hydrogen-powered and hybrid-electric aircraft, advances in AI-driven avionics, and cutting-edge defense technologies. The event also features a dedicated “Start-Me-Up” zone spotlighting emerging aerospace startups and disruptive innovation.

Throughout the week, industry watchers anticipate significant announcements from major players such as Airbus, Lockheed Martin, Embraer, and others. These may include new commercial and defense aircraft orders, as well as strategic international partnerships.

As the global aviation sector continues its post-pandemic recovery, grapples with mounting geopolitical tensions, and accelerates toward net-zero emissions goals, the Paris Airshow remains a critical forum for both business and innovation.

“The Paris Airshow is where vision meets reality,” said a spokesperson from GIFAS. “This year, even in the shadow of tragedy, the industry comes together to share ideas, build connections, and chart the future of flight.”
