A large tree fell earlier today in the Thummulla area of Colombo, causing significant disruptions to traffic along Bauddhaloka Mawatha.
According to local authorities, the incident occurred during the morning hours, likely due to heavy winds overnight. Emergency response teams were quickly dispatched to the scene and are currently working to remove the fallen tree and restore normal traffic flow.
No injuries have been reported so far. However, motorists are advised to use alternate routes and expect delays until the road is fully cleared.
The Colombo Municipal Council is investigating the cause of the incident and assessing the risk of similar occurrences in the area.
