Ambassador Sri Lanka Embassy in Israel Mr. Nimal Bandara told Ziradaily news room that three Sri Lankans who were in route to Israel from Sri Lanka are currently stranded at Dubai Airport. The Consulate General’s Office in Dubai is coordinating assistance for them. Additionally, five other Sri Lankans stranded at Abu Dhabi Airport are being supported by the Sri Lankan Embassy, which has arranged temporary visas and accommodation for them. All Sri Lankans currently in Sri Lanka on vacation are requested to send copies of their airline tickets and valid re-entry visas for Israel to the Sri Lankan Embassy. This will assist in extending the validity period of their re-entry visas.

Throughout last night a series of ballistic missile attacks launched from Iran targeted areas around Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. One of the missiles aimed at the Herzliya area in northern Tel Aviv was intercepted and destroyed by the Israeli Air Force and the Iron Dome defense system.

However, the resulting shockwave shattered windows and cracked walls in residential buildings. Reports also indicate that several areas experienced fires in buildings and vehicles, with over fifty injuries recorded. No Sri Lankans have been reported among the casualties.

Israeli defence authorities have stated that the emergency situation remains in effect. Tel Aviv International Airport and Israeli airspace continue to be closed.

The Embassy officials are closely monitoring the current situation. Those in need of assistance are encouraged to contact the Embassy for support.
