
At least 133 people were killed after an Air India flight crashed in India

The signal from the aircraft was lost at 10:08 a.m. local time (12:38 a.m. ET) at 625 feet, according to FlightRadar24 data.
The plane was a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, according to Flightradar24.
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the plane crash in Ahmedabad has “stunned and saddened” the country.
“The tragedy in Ahmedabad has stunned and saddened us. It is heartbreaking beyond words,” he said, in a post on X.
“In this sad hour, my thoughts are with everyone affected by it. Have been in touch with Ministers and authorities who are working to assist those affected,” he added.
There were 242 passengers and crew members on board the Air India flight that crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad on Thursday, the airline said in a statement.
Air India flight AI171 was scheduled to depart from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, bound for London Gatwick, at 9.50 a.m. local time, according to aviation tracker FlightRadar24.

Boeing says it is aware of initial reports of a crash involving one of its aircraft in India, and is working to gather more details.
“We are aware of initial reports and are working to gather more information,” a spokesperson for Boeing said.
The aircraft involved is a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, according to Flightradar24, and there were 242 passengers and crew members on board.
