In a significant step towards enhancing the experience of devotees attending the Poson Festival, the Ministry of Defense has launched a dedicated mobile phone application,

Poson Vandana. Developed by the Centre for Defence Research and Development (CDRD), the app is designed to provide essential real-time information to pilgrims visiting the sacred city of Anuradhapura.

The Poson Vandana app offers a comprehensive range of features aimed at ensuring the safety, convenience, and well-being of devotees. Key functionalities include updates on the locations and capacities of parking areas, the availability and locations of dansals (free food distribution centers), first aid stations, public toilet facilities, and designated safe bathing spots.

Officials noted that this initiative leverages technology to streamline crowd management and emergency response during one of the most significant religious observances in Sri Lanka. The app is expected to reduce congestion, improve access to services, and promote a more organized and peaceful pilgrimage.

The Ministry encourages all pilgrims to download and utilize the Poson Vandana app for a smoother and safer Poson Poya celebration.
