Special train services for Poson festival pilgrims

The Sri Lanka Railway Department has announced the operation of special train services from Colombo Fort to Anuradhapura from June 9 to 12 in support of the annual Poson Festival.

According to Railway General Manager Dhammika Jayasundara, 20 trains will run between Colombo Fort and Anuradhapura, while 36 services will operate between Anuradhapura and Mihintale, ensuring convenient travel for thousands of devotees.

The Poson Week, commemorating the introduction of Buddhism to Sri Lanka, continues until June 13. The National Poson Festival is centered at the sacred sites of Anuradhapura, Mihintale, and Thanthirimale. Authorities confirm that all necessary arrangements are in place to ensure the safety and smooth flow of pilgrims.
