Showery conditions and Strong winds expected across Sri Lanka

According to the forecast issued at 5:30 a.m. today, several spells of showers are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts. Additionally, thundershowers may develop during the afternoon or night in parts of the Northern and Uva provinces, and in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts.
Strong winds, ranging from 30 to 40 kmph, are expected across the western slopes of the central hills, and in the Northern, North-Central, North-Western, and Southern provinces, including Trincomalee. Sea Area Forecast: Caution Urged for Naval and Fishing Communities
Light showers are expected in the sea areas from Puttalam to Matara, passing Colombo and Galle, while mainly fair weather is forecast over other marine regions.
However, south-westerly winds are anticipated to strengthen in several regions. Wind speeds will range between 30–40 kmph, potentially increasing up to 50–60 kmph in the sea areas from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam and Mannar, and from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
Other sea areas may experience winds of 25–35 kmph, rising up to 45–50 kmph in regions from Chilaw to Galle via Colombo, and from Kankasanthurai to Trincomalee via Mullaittivu.
Sea conditions are expected to be rough at times in the above-mentioned areas, with wave heights possibly reaching 2.5 to 3.0 meters between Hambantota and Pottuvil. Naval and fishing communities are advised to exercise extreme caution and avoid venturing into hazardous waters.
The Meteorology Department emphasizes the importance of adhering to weather warnings and taking necessary safety measures to minimize weather-related risks in the coming days.
