Responding to questions raised in the House, Minister Ratnayake confirmed that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has officially launched an investigation into the matter.
The containers in question have been a topic of public concern in recent weeks, with allegations surfacing over potential irregularities in their clearance at the port.
“The containers were not released due to any directive from the President or myself,” Ratnayake said, rejecting claims of undue influence. “We are fully cooperating with the CID, and I have instructed all relevant officials to assist with the investigation.”
The nature of the contents and the circumstances surrounding the delayed release remain under investigation, with the CID expected to submit a preliminary report in the coming weeks.
