Mallika Kumari Senadheera, the former General Manager of the Sri Lanka Land Reclamation & Development Corporation (SLLRDC), was arrested today (Thursday, June 5, 2025) by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) on charges of corruption.

Senadheera is accused of bypassing standard procurement procedures to select a company for the opening ceremony of the first phase of the Weras Ganga Project.  She is further alleged to have misappropriated Rs. 27.6 million from the project funds without proper allocation.

The Weras Ganga Project is a significant urban development initiative aimed at enhancing water management and infrastructure in the region.  The alleged mismanagement has raised concerns about the integrity of public procurement processes and the safeguarding of public funds.

Senadheera's arrest underscores the ongoing efforts by CIABOC to combat corruption within Sri Lanka's public sector.  The Commission continues to investigate various cases to ensure accountability and transparency in government operations.

The CIABOC has not yet released a formal statement regarding the arrest.  Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
