The Attorney General’s Department has informed the Supreme Court that former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella and several others will be formally indicted next week before a special three-judge bench of the High Court. The charges relate to the controversial importation of substandard human immunoglobulin vaccines.

Deputy Solicitor General Nirmalan Wigneswaran made the announcement during a hearing on a Fundamental Rights petition filed in connection with the case. The petition challenges the procurement of drugs from two unregistered Indian pharmaceutical companies under the Indian credit line and lists Rambukwella and others as respondents.
