Aviation enthusiasts and skywatchers are in for a thrilling morning as SriLankan Airlines welcomes a brand-new Airbus A330-200 to its fleet.

The wide-body aircraft, arriving from Paris, is scheduled to make a dramatic entrance into Sri Lankan airspace today with a rare low-altitude flyby over the Colombo coastline.

Between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m., the aircraft will cruise at approximately 1,500 feet along the western coastline of Colombo, offering a breathtaking aerial display visible from the southern edge of Port City to Moratuwa. This special maneuver is aimed at giving the public and aviation fans a memorable view of the new aircraft before it officially lands.

Following the flyby, the A330-200 will proceed to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake. Before touching down, it is expected to perform an additional low pass over the airport, marking its formal introduction to Sri Lanka’s national carrier.

This arrival marks a significant addition to SriLankan Airlines’ long-haul and regional capabilities. The A330-200, known for its fuel efficiency and passenger comfort, will strengthen the airline’s capacity on key international routes and regional connections.

Authorities have advised the public to safely observe the aircraft from designated viewing areas and not to obstruct traffic or enter restricted zones during the event.
