
Parliament Meets Today

According to the official schedule, the session will commence with business under Standing Orders 22 (1) to (6) from 9.30 a.m. to 10.00 a.m., followed by a half-hour session dedicated to questions directed at the Prime Minister.
From 10.30 a.m. to 11.00 a.m., members will pose oral questions, while the period from 11.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. has been allocated for matters under Standing Order 27(2).
Significantly, from 11.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., the Criminal Procedure Code (Amendment) Bill is scheduled to be presented for its third reading following the Committee stage, marking a key step in ongoing judicial reforms.
After a brief lunch recess from 12.30 p.m. to 1.00 p.m., Parliament will reconvene to debate and approve the regulations under the Anti-Corruption Act, published in the Extraordinary Gazette No. 228/43. This debate will run from 1.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. and is expected to generate wide interest, given the government's stated commitment to transparency and accountability.
