Deshabandu Tennakoon to appear before misconduct probe committee today

The committee, chaired by Supreme Court Justice Preethipadman Surasena, is set to convene at 2:00 PM today (03). During this session, affidavits related to evidence submitted by the Attorney General’s Department will be formally presented.
As the proceedings progress, the IGP's legal team is expected to submit their response to the affidavits on June 9. Following this, oral testimony and cross-examinations are scheduled to take place on June 11.
In a move indicating the seriousness and urgency of the inquiry, the committee has decided to meet daily starting June 16 from 9:30 AM onwards to expedite the investigation process.
The probe follows mounting concerns over alleged misuse of authority and misconduct by the IGP, and marks a critical step in accountability within the country’s law enforcement leadership.
