
Anudi Gunasekara returns home after competing in 72nd Miss World pageant

The grand finale of the prestigious beauty pageant was held on May 31 in Hyderabad, Telangana, drawing participation from 108 countries. Despite fierce competition, Anudi showcased exceptional talent and poise throughout the event, bringing significant recognition to Sri Lanka.
Although she did not advance to the final Top 40, Anudi made history by becoming the first Sri Lankan contestant to qualify for the final rounds in the Head to Head and Multimedia categories a remarkable achievement that has never been accomplished by a Sri Lankan representative before.
The 72nd Miss World competition featured multiple categories highlighting intelligence, social impact, communication skills, and media presence, with contestants participating in various segments over several days.
While Sri Lanka’s hopes for a crown were ultimately unfulfilled this year, Anudi Gunasekara’s trailblazing performance has set a new benchmark and inspired many across the country.
