The Inland Revenue Department has announced the commencement of National Tax Week today, June 2, under the theme 'Tax Power', with the aim of enhancing public awareness and understanding of tax obligations in Sri Lanka.

The official inaugural ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Presidential Secretariat, under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. The event is expected to bring together senior government officials, financial experts, and representatives from the Inland Revenue Department to emphasize the critical role taxation plays in national development.

According to the Inland Revenue Department, 'Tax Power' is more than a campaign slogan—it represents a nationwide effort to educate citizens about the importance of timely and accurate tax payments, and to foster a more transparent and efficient tax culture across the country.

Throughout the week, a series of workshops, seminars, media campaigns, and public outreach programs will be conducted to inform both individuals and businesses about tax regulations, filing procedures, and the benefits of a well-functioning tax system.

The department encourages all taxpayers and stakeholders to actively participate in the week's events and to utilize the resources made available for better compliance and understanding.
