Rough Seas and Gusty Winds Around the Island

In the sea areas around the island, showers or thundershowers are expected in regions stretching from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle. A few showers may also occur in other surrounding sea areas.

Winds will be south-westerly, with speeds ranging between 30 and 40 kmph. However, wind speeds may increase up to 50 kmph at times, particularly in sea areas off the coast from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam and Mannar, and from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota.

These regions are expected to experience rough seas at times. Additionally, temporarily strong wind gusts and very rough sea conditions are possible during thundershowers. Mariners and fishing communities are strongly advised to exercise caution.
