Train operations on the Upcountry Railway Line have returned to normal after a temporary disruption caused by the derailment of the night mail train traveling from Colombo to Badulla.

The incident occurred between the Galaboda and Watawala railway stations, where the engine of the night mail train derailed, halting services along the route. Railway officials promptly responded, with a team from the Nawalapitiya railway station leading the recovery efforts.

According to a railway control room spokesperson, the derailed engine was successfully removed, and operations were re-routed to minimize delays. Full service on the line was restored shortly after the track was cleared.
