
Final rites of Venerable Bandarawela Amithananda Thero to be held on June 1st

The Venerable Thero passed away on May 29 while receiving medical treatment at the Colombo National Hospital. His remains were respectfully transferred this morning (May 30) to the Heiyanthuduwa Siri Devamiththa Yoga Ashram, where devotees and disciples have begun to pay their final respects.
The final rites and cremation ceremony will be conducted at the Dompe Sri Kalyani Yoga Ashram, with proceedings commencing at 12:30 p.m. on June 1. A large gathering of monks, lay followers, and dignitaries is expected to attend the ceremony to honor the Venerable Thero’s immense contributions to the Buddhist community through his sermons and teachings.
Venerable Bandarawela Amithananda Thero was widely respected for his deep knowledge of the Tripitaka and his tireless efforts in spreading the Dhamma across Sri Lanka. His passing marks a significant loss to the Buddhist monastic community and his many followers.
