The Colombo High Court has scheduled the trial against Yoshitha Rajapaksa and his grandmother Daisy Forrest for July 11. They are accused of illegally acquiring assets worth nearly Rs. 73 million, in violation of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
During today's hearing, the prosecution submitted a key document to the court. Meanwhile, the defence, represented by a President’s Counsel, requested access to essential documents and witness statements, asserting they were necessary for a fair trial.
The judge directed the senior government attorney to consider the defense's request and provide all possible materials. The case, filed by the Attorney General, will resume on July 11.
