Venerable Bandarawela Amithananda Thero, a revered Buddhist monk known for his powerful sermons and dedication to youth spiritual development, passed away this afternoon while receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital. He had been admitted due to an illness.

The late Thero was a well-respected figure in the Buddhist community, especially among the younger generation, for his efforts to spread Dhamma teachings in a relatable and inspiring manner. His sermons often emphasized moral values, mindfulness, and the importance of leading a life rooted in compassion and discipline.

Venerable Amithananda Thero was also the founder of the Yowun Sithata Daham Sisila Center in Delgoda, a spiritual initiative aimed at guiding young people towards the Dhamma and creating a supportive environment for Buddhist education and practice.

His passing is a significant loss to the Buddhist community and to all those who were inspired by his teachings and humanitarian work. Arrangements for the final rites are expected to be announced by temple authorities shortly.
