Former Minister Duminda Dissanayake, who was recently remanded in connection with the discovery of a gold-plated T-56 firearm, has been transferred back to Magazine Prison after receiving medical attention at the prison hospital.
Dissanayake was initially admitted to the prison hospital following a court order for medical treatment. After an examination by a specialist doctor, authorities determined that he could return to regular custody.
The former minister was arrested last Friday after law enforcement discovered a gold-plated T-56 assault rifle in an apartment complex in Wellawatte. He was produced before court the following day and subsequently remanded.
Investigations into the case are ongoing.
