Polish Foreign minister Rados?aw Sikorski begins official visit to Sri Lanka

Rados?aw Sikorski, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland and current holder of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, commenced an official visit to Sri Lanka today.

 The visit, which runs through May 31, is undertaken on behalf of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission.

During his stay, Minister Sikorski is scheduled to hold high-level discussions with key Sri Lankan leaders, including President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya. He is also expected to meet with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, Vijitha Herath.

The meetings are aimed at strengthening long-term political, economic, and development cooperation between Sri Lanka and the European Union. Topics of mutual interest including trade, investment, sustainable development, and regional security are expected to be discussed.

Minister Sikorski is accompanied by a delegation comprising senior officials from both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the European Union and the Republic of Poland, reflecting the significance of the visit in the context of EU-Sri Lanka relations.

This visit marks an important step in deepening diplomatic engagement between Sri Lanka and the European Union, and signals the EU's continued commitment to fostering partnerships across South Asia.
