The Sri Lanka Women's cricket team secured a commanding 5-wicket victory over South Africa in the third match of the ongoing tri-nation One Day International (ODI) tournament, held at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo today. This marks Sri Lanka's first win of the tournament.

Chasing a target of 236, Sri Lanka reached 237/5 in 46.3 overs, thanks to a stellar performance by Harshita Samarawickrama and Kavisha Dilhari. The duo stitched together a record-breaking 128-run partnership for the fourth wicket, surpassing the previous Sri Lankan record of 111 runs set by Chamari Athapaththu and Hasini Perera.

Harshita led from the front with a composed 77 off 93 balls and was named Player of the Match for her match-defining knock. Kavisha supported strongly with a fluent 61, ensuring Sri Lanka’s chase remained on track.

Earlier, South Africa posted 235/9 in their allotted 50 overs, setting what appeared to be a competitive total. However, Sri Lanka’s determined batting display turned the tide decisively in their favor.

This victory is now ranked as the fourth-highest successful run chase in the history of Sri Lanka Women’s ODI cricket.

India currently leads the points table, having won both of their matches in the series so far.
