Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe appeared before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) today to provide a statement regarding his remarks on a financial misappropriation case involving MP Chamara Sampath Dassanayake.

The investigation pertains to alleged irregularities during Dassanayake's tenure as Chief Minister of the Uva Province. Wickremesinghe was summoned over his previous comments on the matter, which reportedly influenced the inquiry.

Initially scheduled to appear on April 17, Wickremesinghe requested a postponement due to scheduling conflicts and was permitted to testify today. After giving his statement, the former President left the Commission premises without addressing the media.
