
Island-Wide Showers Expected as Intertropical Convergence Zone Influences

Showers or thundershowers are expected across most parts of the island, particularly during the afternoon and night. Morning showers may affect areas in the North-western and Western provinces, as well as the districts of Mannar, Galle, and Matara.
Heavy rainfall, reaching up to 100 mm, is likely in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, Eastern, and North-central provinces, including the districts of Vavuniya, Mullaittivu, and Kurunegala.
The Department of Meteorology advises the public to take precautions against localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. Additionally, misty conditions can be expected in some areas of the Central and Uva provinces during the morning.
Weather Forecast for Sea Areas Around the Island – Next 24 Hours

The Department of Meteorology reports that several areas around the island will experience showers or thundershowers over the next 24 hours. Mariners are advised to be cautious as temporary strong gusty winds and very rough seas are expected during these thundershowers.
Winds will be south-westerly to southerly, with speeds ranging from 20 to 30 kmph. Apart from periods of rough weather during storms, sea conditions around the island will generally remain slight.
Fishermen and those venturing into the sea are urged to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
