Sri Lankan mission arrives after the relief operation in Myanmar

After a successful disaster relief operation in Myanmar, the triple military humanitarian relief team returns to the island.

The Sri Lankan Triple Forces Humanitarian Relief Team, specially deployed Sri Lanka International Airport, after successfully completing the emergency relief operation implemented on behalf of the people affected by the earthquake that occurred in Myanmar yesterday (April 26) reached the motherland at Bandaranayaka International Airport.

The group led by Brigadier Punya Karunathilaka was warmly welcomed by the Director General of Research Concepts and Principles of the Sri Lanka Army Headquarters, Major General Nasir Majeed, Director of Research Concepts and Principles at the Sri Lanka Army Headquarters. This special triple military relief services team left for Myanmar on April 5, as per the instructions of His Excellency President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to respond quickly to it.

The operations were implemented under the full supervision of the Secretary of the Defence Air Wise Marshal Resources Thuyakontha (Retd), coordinating the necessary activities with the active cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On the day they arrived in Myanmar, they were approved for relief services in Nay Pyi Taw province located nearly 450 kilometers from Yangon. There, they started disaster relief services in the city of Pobba Thiri (Pobba Thiri), an area severely affected by the earthquake.

The Sri Lankan Relief Services team has been working in collaboration with local government institutions, immediately established mobile medical clinics, and conducted a quick assessment of the situation to identify people with emergency health needs from the displaced people.

Through these medical operations, particularly support people in temporary displacement camps established at-risk Ministry Complex, Lat Lok Toun Pagoda (Lat Lok Toun Pagoda) and Mashikhana (Mashikhana) Aramaya, prevent the spread of disease, and at-risk groups including women and children.
