Police have announced the implementation of a new system to identify devotees who are queuing to pay homage at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, known as the 'Siri Dalada Vandana'.
A special stiker will be issued to devotees in the queue, aiming to streamline the process and maintain order as crowds gather in large numbers.
The announcement was made at a special joint press conference this afternoon with the participation of Senior DIG in charge of the Central Province, Lalith Pathinayake, and DIG for Kandy and Matale Districts, Sudath Masinghe.
"We are working to issue a special stiker to identify those in the queue from today. We will start that process from tonight," said Senior DIG Pathinayake.
Authorities stated that this new measure will assist in crowd management and ensure that those who arrive early will have a smoother experience when paying homage to the sacred Tooth Relic.
The badge issuance program is expected to help law enforcement officials distinguish devotees participating in the religious observance from the general public, thereby enhancing security and the overall pilgrimage experience.
